General ophthalmology
A comprehensive eye exam, particularly if done regularly, is the best way to prevent or detect the early stages of any disease that may compromise your sight.

Refractive surgery
Refractive surgery is the series of surgical techniques aimed at correcting eye alterations caused by a refractive defect, such as short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism. Its purpose is to reduce or eliminate the need to use glasses or contact lenses.
These techniques include procedures done on the cornea (laser surgery) and procedures to implant intraocular lenses (intraocular surgery).
